You don't need a particular “issue” to bring to counselling, there may just be a feeling that something isn't quite right, or there might be a number of things that you want to explore.

However, it may be helpful to know, that I have experience working with clients facing the following:

  • Loneliness and isolation

  • End of life

  • Life limiting diagnosis

  • Chronic illness

  • Grief and loss

  • Pre bereavement

  • People caring for a loved one

I have worked with people from all walks of life and all ages.

Additionally, I have specific experience of working with young people aged between 16 to 25.

  • I have an FDSc Degree in Person Centred Counselling, certified by The University of Brighton.

It has been my privilege to have worked for a local Hospice since 2020. This area of my work has included counselling patients both in the community and on our wards, counselling carers and family members, as well as people facing the excruciating experience of complex grief and loss.

Further to this, I facilitate a bereavement group for people who have lost a loved one that was cared for by the hospice.

I have also worked in schools supporting young people to integrate back into school following the covid lockdowns.

My commitment to both my personal and professional development is very important to me and I see learning as a never ending process. On top of my qualification, I have attended a number of short courses and training to make sure I am up to date with the latest knowledge and understanding. Some of the areas I have completed short courses and training in are:

    • Self-harm and suicide

    • Bereavement and complex grief

    • Understanding trauma

    • Working with young people

    • Existentialism and person centred counselling

    • Facing death

    • The impact of shame

    • The use of music in therapy

  • As a Person Centred Counsellor, I believe that we are all navigating life in the best way we know how, from moment to moment, in order to get by. However, life can be challenging and we can begin to notice that our behaviours or habits aren't working for us anymore, or we have reached a point where we desperately want to make a change.

I work with my clients by offering a genuine relationship, based on empathy, compassion, and deep understanding, free of judgement, so you can tell your story, and we can explore what feels most important to you. There will never be any pressure from me to speak about a particular topic. We will move at your pace exploring what feels most relevant from week to week.

There may be lots of well-meaning friends and family in your life who have given you lots of advice and opinions. I will not do this. I believe that no one knows you or your experience in the world, better than you do. Which is why I won't tell you what to do, pretend I have all the answers or give unsolicited advice.

This way of working isn't just what I hold a qualification in, but the philosophy in which I live my life. I will always bring my authentic self, and naturally, I will not be cold, distant or detached.
